Job Description Omnient Labs is a growing contract testing laboratory in the dietary supplement and botanical space, based in Tempe, AZ. We work on novel formulations and emerging bioactives, developing and validating methods that do not yet exist in compendia. We are seeking a Method Development and Validation Chemist I to help validate, optimize, and support these analytical methods that power our client testing services.

This position is in-person/on site. This is not a remote position. Must reside in the Phoenix Metro Valley.

Job Type: Full-time, Monday through Friday, Day Shift

Salary: 60 - 70k/yr

Chemist – Method Development and Validation Duties:
  • Perform method validation, verification, and robustness studies for established HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS/MS, HS-GC, GC-FID, HPTLC, UV-Vis, and FTIR methods under the direction of senior method development staff.
  • Assist with development of lower-complexity analytical methods for routine testing, following USP , USP , and AOAC Appendix K, with technical review by senior chemists.
  • Support method transfer activities (e.g., HPLC to UPLC) for routine methods, including preparation of associated documentation and data packages.
  • Perform method optimization for already developed methods (such as minor adjustments to gradients, injection volumes, sample preparation steps) to improve robustness and efficiency.
  • Train quality control chemists on validated and transferred methods and provide routine technical support, escalating complex issues to senior chemists.
  • Execute non-routine testing of Research and Development (R&D) materials using established methods and summarize results for senior review.
  • Analyze samples to determine chemical and/or physical properties, composition, and/or structure utilizing chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry according to approved methods.
  • Maintain a well-documented laboratory notebook and ensure all work complies with cGLP and cGMP guidelines.
  • Participate in daily laboratory functions, calibration activities, hygiene events, and routine laboratory cleaning and maintenance.
  • Assist with writing and editing laboratory documentation such as standard operating procedures, test methods, or training protocols under direction of laboratory management.
  • Perform chemical and physical inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, solvents, and standards on a consistent basis.
  • Support instrumentation calibration and maintenance schedules to ensure proper condition and calibration of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • File appropriate paperwork when modifications to laboratory procedures or processes are necessary, such as deviations and change control documentation, with input from senior staff.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by laboratory management.
Education/

Experience:
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or chemistry related field, such as biochemistry or molecular biology, is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a hard-scientific field such as physics or biology is acceptable.
  • At least 1 year of method development experience (or equivalent) in the food or dietary supplements industry is required.
Technical

Skills:
  • Digital Proficient using Waters Empower 3 software

    Proficient in web-based applications

    Analytical

    Proficiency with analytical instrumentation such as, HPLC/UPLC, LCMS, specifically Waters UPLC’sStrong analytical technique and instrumentation skills

    Familiar and/or proficient with simple mathematical manipulations and algebra

    Meticulous attention to detail, dependability, and excellent organizational skills

    Familiarity with analytical instrumentation such as, HSGC, FTIR, UV-Vis HPTLC a plus Ability to troubleshot and perform maintenance of laboratory instrumentation under the supervision of laboratory managementInterpersonal
