Riverbound Sports is looking for an Assistant Retail Store Manager to help run the shop and warehouse in Tempe, AZ. Traditionally, this has been a seasonal position, but the climate in Arizona allows us to service customers year round!
Riverbound Sports Paddle Company is a small family run business that started in 2013 specializing in the best gear to support the worst paddle habits - from fishing kayaks, stand up paddleboards, surfskis, touring kayaks, ourigger canoes and awesome lifestyle gear to support addiction. The shop offers retail sales, rentals, online sales, lessons and guided tours.
What sets Riverbound apart from other similar operations and big box retailers is the ability to offer specialized care and education to every customer. We pride ourselves with outfitting customers with the right equipment, empowering renters with knowledge on how to use gear properly and of course the best places to go. Position Responsibilities:
- Manage showroom and floor sales
- Oversee warehouse operations, shipping and rentals
- Oversee and assist in maintenance of shop equipment
- Merchandise retail product and be a professional salesperson with a wealth of knowledge
- Handle general merchandising, inventory and store operations
- Communicate with customers face-to-face, over the phone and live chat
- Assist in maintaining and administering operational expectations by following company policies and guidelines
- Maintain the store’s reputation by assisting marketing efforts, assist with content and social media presence
- Make decisions that support the company’s Mission
Skills and Requirements:
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Excellent organizing and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Work Experience:
Two years retail experience in outdoor or specialty retail - Supervisory
Experience:
Prefer 2+ years of retail management experience; 1 year as a Store Manager preferred - Flexibility for a varied schedule that will include weekday, weekend and holiday shifts.
- Education:
Bachelors’ Degree preferred, High School graduate minimum - Active participation in Paddle sports and outdoor recreation, highly preferred
- Ability to suggestively sell and be persuasive; coach others to do the same
- Utilize POS system, CRM, shipping and other applications
- Computer
Skills:
Comfortable with Microsoft Office products;
Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point - Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
- Able to lift 40 lbs unassisted and navigate large objects in small spaces
- Comfortable working outside in the summer (frequently)
