Job Description
Business development managers are primarily responsible for driving business growth, and duties vary on a day‑to‑day basis. Typical responsibilities include:
- Creating development plans and forecasting sales targets and growth projections.
- Identifying market opportunities through meetings, networking and other channels.
The Business Development Manager will oversee client relationships, manage the sales pipeline, and secure contracts for an industry‑leading, employee‑owned electrical contractor. This role involves researching potential customers, preparing business development action plans, supervising marketing materials, and assisting business development associates in crafting compelling proposals. You will act as the primary liaison to clients, ensuring all needs are met from initial contact through project completion.
Additionally, this position requires budgeting assistance, pre‑construction coordination, CRM maintenance, and frequent travel to client sites. This on‑site position requires the employee to be in the office when not traveling, with 15‑30% travel. The locations where the BDM’s are needed include:

- San Jose, CA
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) construction estimating, supervision, or project management. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Oracle preferred), and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Success in this role requires a proactive approach, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and clients.
Compensation& Benefits
Junior to Mid Level Candidates – $120,000–$160,000 plus bonuses and equity. The client will consider those with some sales experience and at least 4–5 years of experience in estimating or project management. Electrical construction experience is a huge plus, or those from MEP.
Senior Level – $160,000–$190,000 plus bonuses and equity. Must have electrical construction sales experience and relationships with large general contractors.
Relocation assistance is negotiable for junior to mid‑level candidates. Relocation is provided for senior‑level candidates.
