Position: Territory Manager - Personal Lines (Southern Phoenix/Tucson, AZ)

Overview

Nationwide’s Property and Casualty team is looking for a Territory Manager to help protect what matters most to agents and customers across the Southern Phoenix/Tucson, AZ area. This role focuses on building profitable relationships with independent agency distribution partners, leveraging data, analytics, and Nationwide’s tools to drive top‑line performance.

Location and Travel

Territory:
Southern Phoenix/Tucson, AZ. The successful candidate must reside within the assigned territory and will be required to travel frequently throughout the area, including overnight stays as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand the strategic and operational goals of the assigned territory and individual distribution partners to identify mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Use data, analytics, local market information, and competitor knowledge to create actionable plans.
  • Proactively identify and implement actions to achieve territory goals.
  • Lead new business and transfer processes, including identifying new transfer and business appointments, setting expectations, and ensuring delivery of production.
  • Leverage tools and resources such as Salesforce, Seismic, dashboards, and reporting for operational efficiency.
  • Gather distribution partner feedback and share continuous improvement opportunities with business partners across the company.
  • Collaborate with personal lines, farm geography partners, and nationwide counterparts (claims, servicing, etc.) on problem solving, education, promotion, reviews, and best practices.
  • Complete the annual planning process for appropriate partners, document agreements in Salesforce, and hold partners accountable to the agreements.
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, and other internal teams to identify and act on opportunities within the territory.
  • Lead portfolio management meetings to align partners with territory objectives, monitor portfolio data, and drive profitability and revenue through assigned relationships.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to a Sales Associate Vice President or Vice President; independent and individual contributor role.

Typical Skills and Experience
  • Education:

    Undergraduate studies in general business, insurance, sales, marketing, or related fields; degree preferred.
  • Experience:

    Eight to ten years of sales or sales management experience; prior property casualty or financial services experience desirable.
  • Carrier‑side sales management experience and a strong background in the independent agency distribution channel; carrier and agency experience is especially ideal.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and drive results with a track record of building profitable outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce, Seismic, and related analytic tools.

  • Exceptional customer and partner relationship management skills.
  • Clear accountability and proven ability to establish responsibilities and monitor results.

  • Strategic planning and execution with a focus on high‑impact initiatives.
  • Ability to persuade, collaborate, and act with courage.
Job Conditions
  • Frequent travel with potential overnight stays.
  • Requires regular, in‑person engagement with agency partners to maintain field presence.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
  • Exempt from overtime.
