Director of Sales (North America) (m/f/d)
SCHMID Systems Inc. is seeking a sales professional to win new customers and drive profitable growth in the US and wider North American market.
About SCHMID:
Founded in 1864, SCHMID Group supplies equipment and process solutions for electronics manufacturing. This role combines active business development with ownership of complex capital equipment sales, from first contact to signed order. Working closely with the current US leadership and global technical teams, you will build qualified opportunities and convert them into measurable results. Sustained commercial success and demonstrated leadership may open a path to US Country Manager / General Manager of SCHMID Systems Inc.
Responsibilities and Performance
- New Customer Acquisition:
Proactively identify target accounts, initiate contact and secure access to decision-makers. Create opportunities through direct outreach, working with distributor, and customer visits, taking personal ownership of winning new business. - Market Development:
Pursue and close multi-million-dollar capital equipment and process solution contracts across printed circuit boards, advanced substrates including ABF, high-density interconnect (HDI), panel-level packaging (PLP) and semiconductor applications. - Opportunity Ownership:
Manage the sales cycle from qualification and technical evaluation through proposal, negotiation and closing. Maintain a qualified CRM pipeline, clear next steps and reliable forecasts. Deliver against agreed order intake, margin and new customer targets. - Technical Selling:
Work with customers and SCHMID application specialists to translate process requirements into equipment proposals with a clear business case. Sell SCHMID’s plating, plasma and wet desmear, electroless copper deposition and development, etching and stripping (DES) solutions on yield, uptime, process stability and cost of ownership. - Market Intelligence and
Collaboration:
Turn customer investment plans and competitor insights into actionable opportunities. Coordinate with headquarters in Freudenstadt, Germany and global technology and production teams on proposals, technical evaluations and delivery commitments. - Service Growth:
Work with the Service Manager to develop and sell service contracts, targeting $2 million in service contract revenue within three years. Identify additional equipment and process opportunities within existing accounts.
- Leadership Development:
Work closely with the current US leadership to build an understanding of local operations, customer relationships and financial management while delivering sales results. - Local Management Scope:
If appointed, assume P&L and operational responsibility for SCHMID Systems Inc., covering local engineering, service and administration within SCHMID Group’s governance. - Progression Criteria:
Consideration for this local role will depend on sustained sales performance, demonstrated leadership and business needs. Any succession decision and timing will be based on these results and readiness to manage the US entity.
- Experience:
At least five years of successful sales experience in capital equipment, thin-film deposition, vacuum technology or advanced wet-chemical process solutions. Experience with North American customers in PCB manufacturing, substrates or process chemistry is strongly preferred. - Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of PCB, IC substrate and advanced interconnect manufacturing, including wet-process parameters such as temperature, chemistry, fluid dynamics and uniformity across: HDI and high-layer-count multilayer PCB manufacturing. mSAP / SAP processes and ABF…
