Job Description:

The Biodesign Beus CXFEL Laboratory is seeking a Research Technician to support the design and development of RF waveguide components, cavities, RF loads, and related technologies. Reporting to Dr. Sami Tantawi, the successful candidate will contribute to the laboratory's ongoing research and engineering efforts.

Position Salary Range: $21.20 - $25.00 per hour; DOE

Essential Duties:

• Design and optimize RF waveguide components, cavities, RF loads, and related components.
• Develop and maintain custom automation tools in Wolfram Mathematica to support Ansys HFSS simulation and design activities.
• Perform experimental characterization of materials using vector network analyzer measurements to evaluate electrical conductivity and RF properties.
• Utilize custom LabVIEW programs for data acquisition, signal processing, and data analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, computer engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant research experience.
• Experience with Wolfram Mathematica, Ansys HFSS simulation tools, and LabVIEW.
• Knowledge of RF systems, electromagnetic modeling, and RF measurement techniques.
• Regular activities require ability to manage multiple tasks at one time, to be able to prioritize tasks; to manage conflict: to interact in a team environment: and to communicate effectively to exchange accurate information.
• Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.

Working Environment:

• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting and laboratory subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position, operating computer and other office productivity machinery; required to move a moderate distance to perform work.
• Frequently moves up to 25 pounds for various needs.
• May be required to wear personal protective equipment before entering laboratories such as lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, closed toe shoes and respirator.
