Your impact

The Jacobs Tempe office is seeking a full‑time early career biologist with 1–5 years of experience to support biological analyses and fieldwork. The successful candidate will contribute to work conducted in support of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and other applicable regulations. Responsibilities may include assisting with impact assessments, project site investigations, habitat surveys, mitigation planning, restoration and mitigation site monitoring, and construction monitoring.

this role you will
  • Assist with habitat assessments and field surveys for wildlife and plant species
  • Assist with preparation of biological assessments, biological evaluations, biological reviews, and biological evaluation short forms
  • Assist with preparation of biological portions of environmental assessments or environmental impact statements
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 1–5 years of experience in field studies and/or environmental analysis; relevant internship, seasonal, or graduate research experience will be considered
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to learn and apply technical biological report‑writing practices
  • Computer literacy, and willingness to learn new software and technical methods
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to complete assigned work within defined timelines and established standards
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Overnight travel is required, averaging at least 1–2 nights per month, likely more.
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Working knowledge of, or coursework related to, Endangered Species Act and National Environmental Policy Act regulations
  • Experience with projects for state transportation departments or the Federal Highway Administration

The base salary range for this position is $58,656.00 to $88,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
