Job Description
The Maintenance Lead assigns work tasks to mechanics, assists the Maintenance Supervisor with scheduling and monitors workloads. Trains less experienced employees as required.
Responsibilities- Install, operate, maintain, check, and troubleshoot all types of A/C and D/C electrical equipment. Install, troubleshoot, and repair solid state and electronic equipment as well as mechanical equipment.
- Use safe working practices and always report or repair any hazard conditions.
- Inspect machines, take required tests, and complete all reports and paperwork as required.
- Perform PM and repair work in accordance with A.I.B. standards.
- Diagnose and employ proper troubleshooting procedures to determine when parts need replacement and when repairs are necessary.
- Dismantle, repair, and re‑assemble gearboxes, fans, conveyors, blowers, compressors, pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment when directed.
- Dismantle, repair, and re‑assemble electrical motors, relays, timers, and allied electrical equipment.
- Install and repair electrical conduit, cables, piping, tubing, controls, and grounding as directed.
- Operate mobile lift truck and hoist equipment when performing maintenance work. Possess knowledge of simple rigging when necessary for equipment moving and relocation.
- Help maintain spare parts inventory for the plant.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent required. 6 years of experience in maintenance in a manufacturing plant required. Bakery or food/beverage manufacturing experience. Prior leadership experience strongly preferred. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of local, state, and federal electric codes.
- Certified in PLC programming, e.g., Allen Bradley or equivalent.
- Experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting the following:
- All types of AC and DC electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Electrical conduit, cables, piping, and tubing, including all necessary connections, controls, and grounding.
- Able to disassemble, repair, and reassemble gearboxes, fans, conveyors, blowers, compressors, pumps, valves, furnaces, drives, and all allied mechanical equipment related to electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing oven combustion and safety devices.
- Possesses working knowledge of hydraulic and compressed air systems and can read complex diagrams and troubleshoot these systems.
- Experience installing and repairing pneumatic conduit, cables, piping, and tubing, including all necessary connections, controls, and grounding.
- Possesses working knowledge of MIG/TIG/ARC welding equipment and gas & plasma cutting equipment.
Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when needed.
