Contracting Controls Technician - Phoenix, AZ

Where Is The Work

On‑Site (5 days) in Tempe, AZ. Prioritize engaging with customers. When not directly interacting with customers, collaborate with colleagues in your office.

• Commissioning, programming, setting up graphics, communications link, end‑to‑end testing, troubleshooting and servicing on assigned projects.
• Documenting point‑to‑point verification, sequence of operations validation and job close‑out requirements.
• Serve as the direct customer contact, servicing products and equipment on‑site, ensuring customer satisfaction by diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems.
• Coordinate with team leader and customer to understand requirements for all on‑site installation and repairs by forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing work.
• Keep current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.
• Enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company‑issued and procured assets.
• Display team effort and dedication to customers by maintaining flexibility to work overtime, weeks, and occasional overnight stays.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required) and typically 3–5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls.
• Technical school or formal training is preferred.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and working proficiency with hand‑held computers (e.g., smartphone, iPad).
• Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations.
• Previous experience with DDC controls systems preferred.

• Safely and legally operate a vehicle and use a seat belt.
• Wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness, and safety boots.
• Twist the trunk of your body 90° in each direction.
• Squat and touch the floor with both hands.
• Reach with hands over your head.
• Stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods (up to 4 hours).
• Lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs.; frequently 40 lbs.; occasionally more than 40 lbs.; safely use a ladder with a 375 lb. limit while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less.
• Maneuver in confined access areas (small as 30” × 45”).
• Comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension/fixed ladders at heights of 15–20 ft., occasionally up to 50 ft.
• May be exposed to variable weather, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy equipment, and other variable conditions.

Base Pay Range: $30–$40 per hour (US national averages; actual pay may vary by seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation).
