HVAC Technician
Perform skilled work in the installation, repair and maintenance of refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and systems; perform duties in collaboration with other trades areas as required in order to maintain District facilities.
Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
Three (3) years of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems experience; commercial experience preferred
US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification
Ability to obtain a State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
Valid Arizona Driver's License
Design, install, and maintain air conditioning units, ventilation equipment, heating equipment, walk-in/reach-in refrigerators and freezers, and coolers.
Operate computerized energy management system.
Perform planned maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC equipment including chillers, airhandlers, central plants, package units, etc.
Perform planned maintenance, regular servicing and repairs to refrigeration equipment of all types, sizes and temperature ranges.
Install and replace all types of pumps, refrigeration and other equipment according to prints, specifications, diagrams or other instructions.
Perform temperature and airflow adjustments on the energy management computer system.
Maintain records of repairs or equipment requiring future service.
Utilize a variety of power equipment such as volt/amp meter, combustible gas detector, oxygen/acetylene torch set, and hand tools in the performance of assigned tasks.
Operate District vehicle to travel to job sites.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of pipe fitting, sheet metal work and electrical work as it pertains to heating, refrigeration, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment repair activities
Knowledge of procedures and proper use of tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment
Knowledge of applicable safety practices
Skill in maintaining and repairing a wide range of refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment
Skill in both verbal and written communication
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Ability to work from diagrams, blueprints, plans and specifications
Dangerous machinery and hazardous chemicals
Exposure to extreme weather conditions
Restricted movement, dirty environment, intense noise
Bend, stoop, and reach
Lift up to 80 pounds of materials
Climb to various heights and work in confined spaces
Drives District vehicle
