SummaryThe Generation Team has an immediate opening for an E&I Journeyman at the Redhawk Power Plant. The role supports the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective production of electrical energy by performing instrumentation and electrical maintenance work, writing and reviewing work scopes and hazard/risk assessments, and may perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret work orders, technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, control wiring diagrams (CWDs), and other relevant diagrams. Enter and manipulate data in a maintenance computer system to record maintenance activity and maintain instrumentation lists, parameters, and settings.
- Inspect and test electrical and instrumentation equipment and circuits; analyze test data to identify malfunctions or defects using wiring diagrams and testing devices.
- Remove, disassemble, calibrate, and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment and controls, including digital and analog controls, DCS, PLCs, interlocks, recorders, and various actuators and sensors. Perform mechanical work such as cutting, bending, and threading pipe, tubing, and conduit to specification.
- Install, test, clean, remove, repair, and troubleshoot medium and low voltage circuit breakers, protective relay equipment, transformers, and grounding systems on high voltage lines and generators. Verify settings, interpret data from protective relays, and maintain grounding grids per safety procedures.
- Apply knowledge of APM and safety standards related to grounding, bonding, arc flash protection, asbestos procedures, MSDS, confined space entry, LOTO, PPE, ladder and scaffold safety, hazardous material handling, and the Accident Prevention Manual.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- At least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successfully complete an E&I apprenticeship or demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge.
- Must qualify as an Electrical and Instrumentation Journeyman or equivalent.
- Must live within a reasonable distance (one hour) of headquarters.
- Must pass the mechanical aptitude test (MASS).
- Pass APS aptitude and qualifying skills tests (written and hands‑on).
- Reasonable and necessary overtime will be required.
- Shift work may be required.
- May require work with aerial equipment subject to weight restrictions of 300 lbs or less.

Additional InformationThis position requires demonstrated proficiency in both electrical and instrumentation skill sets. Candidates must pass both skill assessments; if an applicant passes only one, the company may offer a limited‑scope position and require completion of the other assessment within twelve months.
CIP RequirementThe role requires Critical Infrastructure Protection access consistent with NERC standards. Applicants must obtain and maintain CIP access, including a full seven‑year criminal history check at hire and every seven years thereafter.
