At Johnson Controls you’ll have the chance to work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with the most advanced heavy commercial and cutting‑edge industrial equipment. How You Will Do It

We are looking for HVAC Mechanics with practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipe fitting and/or mechanical equipment service. Mechanics must have experience with light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. They may be required to pass an examination to identify special skills. The scope of work is limited to commercial HVACR service, including maintenance, repair and replacement of commercial heating and cooling systems.

Servicemen may partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines and open‑drive screw chillers.

Tools, uniforms and a company vehicle are provided to support the job and service our customers to the highest standard.

As a trusted advisor to customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service. You will recommend and quote solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently and include upselling opportunities.

Required What We Look For
  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
  • Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system troubleshooting, repair and aftermarket services for this fast‑growing business.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.
  • Experience with mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators for pumps, fans, compressors.
  • Ability to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drive lines.
  • Travel may be required 10% to 20% to support Branch customers, troubleshooting, installation and repair.
  • Required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

  • Will work with other local market mechanics, servicemen and apprentices.
  • Attention to detail, interpersonal, digital and written skills. Ability to write and communicate problems, causes and corrective actions to customers.
  • Ability to provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Self‑starter with passion/desire to learn and apply on the job.
  • Prioritizes safety in all forms.
  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver’s license.

Pay Range: $51-59 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
