Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Tempe, Arizona. This role offers weekly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.
Compensation- Hourly Pay: $27.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each newly obtained ASE Certification, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus:
Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year) - Schedule:
Monday–Friday with weekends off - Hours:
Second Shift 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
- Basic tools (required)
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of classroom training and work experience in the required field (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Carry out standard vehicle maintenance
- Conduct standard component inspections and repairs
- Execute preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures and perform required repairs
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Carry out facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints when assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
