Diesel Mechanic

Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Tempe, Arizona. This role offers weekly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

• Hourly Pay: $27.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each newly obtained ASE Certification, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus:
  Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday with weekends off

  Second Shift 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools (required)
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work (required)
• Minimum of 2 years of classroom training and work experience in the required field (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Carry out standard vehicle maintenance
• Conduct standard component inspections and repairs
• Execute preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures and perform required repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Carry out facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints when assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
