Responsibilities- Read blueprints and schematics.
- Install circuits and sub‑distribution from 120–600 volts.
- Install conduit, wire mold and cable raceways.
- Perform general electrical repairs.
- Repair and maintain conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.
- Use hand tools and power tools for electrical work.
- Troubleshoot emergency electrical systems up to 600V (generators and automatic transfer switches).
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair 277–480 V systems and equipment.
- Use work order system (TMA) to respond to maintenance requests.
- Operate forklift, scissor truck/manlift, scaffolds.
- Use dollies to load and unload materials.
- Communicate effectively to perform essential functions.
DAYS AND
SCHEDULE:
Monday–Friday, 6:30 am–3:00 pm.
High School Diploma and two years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Desired QualificationsSix years of progressively responsible journey‑level electrical experience; or completion of a four‑year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance and two years of electrical experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
Experience In- Commercial/industrial electrical field
- Medium voltage (up to 12,460 volts)
- Troubleshooting of emergency electrical systems up to 600 V
May be exposed to hazardous materials, tools, and equipment requiring safety precautions and personal protective equipment. Work may involve climbing stairs and ladders, traveling throughout campus, operating in extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, confined spaces, intense noise, dirty environments, air contamination, and hazardous materials. Must lift, bend, and carry heavy objects up to 75 pounds and push or pull maintenance carts up to 300 pounds.
Location& Schedule
Tempe campus; may require working at other ASU locations based on operational need. Position requires a rotating on‑call/stand‑by schedule and may be called for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical and Other RequirementsMust pass a pre‑employment physical examination, including asbestos worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire, respiratory fit test, and annual health surveillance as required by ASU.
