Job Summary

Lead Communications Technician – Acts as on‑site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. Ensures job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining crew efficiency.
Full‑time, direct hire position requiring 100% travel and full benefits available after 30 days of employment.

• Run major project crews, provide training, and hold weekly safety meetings.
• Ensure adherence to company and customer safety and quality guidelines; initiate performance communication and elevate issues to the Project Manager as needed.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to drive productivity, meet deadlines, and maintain project budget compliance.
• Accurately complete all IES commercial and project paperwork (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, etc.).
• Perform quality checks, coordinate moves, create cut sheets for voice and data cross‑connects, and prepare red‑lined as‑built drawings.
• Serve as the main on‑site customer contact for questions or concerns and attend facility and construction meetings when required.
• Execute tasks consistently, demonstrating detailed technical knowledge, troubleshooting, and resolving issues as they arise.
• Complete any additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Self‑motivated, positive, and professional with strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
• Effective communicator: read, write, and give oral presentations.
• Able to work at heights, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lb, and move up to 75 lb.
• Can see, distinguish colors, read small print, hear audible signals such as dial tones.
• Willing to travel within the branch or regional territory as needed.

• Screwdriver (regular & Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (belt sheath), pliers (needle‑nose & channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves.
• Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8‑position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt‑ohmmeter, 4‑pair continuity tester, 5‑gang punch tool.

• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum 3 years experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Experience terminating fiber optic cable.
• Minimum 6 months supervisory/managerial experience.
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
• Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
• Must meet company minimum driving standards.
