Position OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Life Safety Inspection & Repair Technician to join our team in Tempe, AZ. In this role, you will perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of fire suppression systems. This is a hands‑on, field‑based position that requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to code compliance and customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre‑action, and fire pump systems
- Perform routine inspections in accordance with local, state, and national fire codes and safety standards
- Install and commission new fire protection equipment and system components
- Complete system testing and verification to ensure proper operation and compliance
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, deficiency notices, and compliance documentation
- Communicate inspection findings, repair recommendations, and system status to customers and management
- Respond to emergency service calls and perform urgent repairs as needed
- Coordinate with contractors, building managers, inspectors, and other trades on service and installation activities
- Identify code violations and recommend corrective actions to maintain compliance
- Stay current with evolving fire codes, manufacturer updates, and industry best practices including AHJ certifications
- Participate in on‑call rotation, after‑hours service, and scheduled preventative maintenance programs
- Support annual inspections and assist with regulatory audits or fire marshal reviews
- 10+ years of experience in fire life safety or a related field, with preference given to fire suppression backgrounds
- Hands‑on experience testing and servicing pre‑action, dry, wet, and fire pump systems
- Strong computer skills with the ability to complete detailed inspection reports and service documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem‑solving ability and the capacity to think critically under pressure
- Dependable, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in the field
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work in various physical environments
- Must pass background check and drug screen
- Compensation: $35 – $42/hr based on experience
