Job Description

Under the leadership of the Office of the Dean of Students, Tempe, the Advocacy Coordinator Senior provides direct support and engagement to students, faculty, staff, families, and other community members to develop supportive action plans for students experiencing circumstances that may interfere with their academic success.

The Advocacy Coordinator Senior manages a complex caseload of students in collaboration with student services and academic partners, with the goal of creating individualized success plans by connecting students with appropriate campus and community services and resources.

This position reports directly to the Director of Student Advocacy and Assistance and is based on the Tempe campus, and will support all ASU students.

Salary

$55,000 per year

Currently hiring for the following shift:
Monday – Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm; remote or hybrid schedule is not applicable.

Essential Duties
  • Manage a high-level caseload of complex situations that may result in significant community impact and require support across all campus locations.
  • Coordinate individualized action plans with students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners to facilitate appropriate referrals and support services.
  • Provide consultation to students, faculty, and staff regarding student-related concerns and complex situations.
  • Work independently as part of a collaborative case management and student support team.
  • Represent the Office of the Dean of Students on university committees, working groups, and task forces.
  • Problem-solve complex situations which include:
    Title IX and VAWA, victims impacted by sexual, domestic, and/or interpersonal violence/harassment; create and implement action plans to support student needs.
  • Utilize strong decision-making skills to effectively provide support for all incoming concerns to ensure timely connection to services.
  • Support university retention initiatives through proactive student advocacy and intervention.
  • Manage highly sensitive and confidential student information in accordance with university policies and applicable regulations.
  • Support the overall success of Educational Outreach and Student Services by performing other duties as assigned and serving on university committees and work groups.
Desired Qualifications
  • Evidence of a Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education or related field of study.
