Senior Video Player Engineer, iOS

Job Description

Fox Platform Group seeks a Sr. Video Player Engineer, iOS to design and implement core video player features for consumer‑facing applications across all of Fox’s networks.

FOX is responsible for delivering the largest live events on television, including the Super Bowl, MLB World Series, FIFA World Cup, election coverage, WWE Smack Down, NFL divisional championships, Primetime Emmy Awards, and many more.

• Work closely with Engineering, Product, Project Management and Backend Technology Services teams to build video player features that contribute to FOX video streaming initiatives.
• Lead the design, architecture and implementation of player features on iOS/tvOS.
• Lead efforts in performance, scalability, security, architecture and engineering best practices.
• Track and prioritize numerous tasks for various team members.
• Provide technical specifications and documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver software using agile methodologies.
• Willingness to stay up‑to‑date with the latest emerging technologies and trends on mobile platforms.

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Excellent programming skills in Swift and Objective‑C.
• Experience with Cocoa design patterns, Xcode tools.
• Experience building components to support video playback, user interfaces, video metadata, and third‑party integrations.
• Experience leading a mobile application team at a tech company.
• Demonstrable knowledge of building responsive user experiences across phones and tablets.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, unit testing and end‑to‑end testing.
• Git, SVN, Jenkins, Docker, Agile methodologies.
• Excellent documentation skills; UML diagrams a plus.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

• Experience with video streaming technologies (HLS).
• Experience with video QoE metrics, A  algorithms, video player frameworks (AVPlayer, AV Foundation).
• Experience with analytics platforms such as Conviva or Segment.

Pay range: $ – $ annually, dependent on education, skills, experience, and location. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for union‑represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
