Job Overview

Fox Platform Group seeks a Sr. Video Player Engineer, iOS to design and implement core video player features for consumer‑facing applications across all of Fox’s networks. Fox is responsible for delivering the largest live events on TV – including the Super Bowl, MLB World Series, FIFA World Cup, election coverage, WWE Smackdown, NFL Divisional Championships, Primetime Emmy Awards, and many more. This role is essential to providing our digital audience a great experience every time they press play and will be key to developing industry‑leading playback performance.

• Lead the design, architecture and implementation of player features on iOS/tvOS.
• Lead efforts in performance, scalability, security, architecture and engineering best practices.
• Track and prioritize numerous tasks for various team members.
• Provide technical specifications and documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver software using agile methodologies.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging technologies and trends on mobile platforms.
• Accomplish engineering and organization missions by completing related results as needed.
• Support and develop software engineers by providing coaching and educational opportunities.
• Participate in Tier 3 on‑call rotation support for the services your team develops and operates.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Excellent programming skills in Swift and Objective‑C.
• Experience with Cocoa design patterns and XCode tools.
• Experience building components to support video playback, user interfaces, video metadata and third‑party integrations.
• Experience leading a mobile application team at a tech company.
• Demonstrable knowledge of building responsive user experiences across phones and tablets.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, unit testing and end‑to‑end testing.
• Proficiency with Git, SVN, Jenkins, Docker and agile methodologies.
• Excellent documentation skills; UML diagrams a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

• Experience with video streaming technologies (HLS).
• Experience with video QoE metrics, A  algorithms, and video player frameworks such as AVPlayer and AV Foundation.
• Experience with analytics platforms such as Conviva or Segment.

Pay range: $143,000–$161,000 annually, with eligibility for discretionary bonuses and various benefits including medical, dental, vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Union‑represented employees will receive benefits in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
