Job Summary
The Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting garage doors, parts, and related materials from the distribution center to customer locations, job sites, and other facilities. This role requires careful handling of products, adherence to schedules, and exceptional customer service to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Key Responsibilities- Safe Transportation: Drive company vehicles to deliver garage doors, parts, and other materials to customer locations, ensuring safe and efficient transport.
- Loading & Unloading: Load and unload materials at distribution centers, job sites, and customer locations using appropriate handling equipment.
- Delivery Documentation: Maintain accurate delivery logs, receipts, and other required paperwork. Ensure proper documentation is completed for each delivery.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Inspect and maintain vehicles regularly, reporting any issues or repairs needed to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Customer Service: Provide courteous and professional service to customers upon delivery, addressing any concerns or questions promptly.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and regulations, including securing loads properly and adhering to traffic laws.
- Coordination: Communicate effectively with the Shipping Supervisor and other team members to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
- Inventory Management: Assist with inventory counts, material handling, and organization within the distribution center as needed.
- Experience:
- Previous driving experience, preferably in a distribution or warehouse setting.
- Experience handling large or heavy materials is a plus.
- Licensing:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred but not required.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs).
- Ability to stand, bend, and climb in and out of vehicles frequently.
- Physical stamina to drive for extended periods.
- Skills:
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and good organizational skills.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
- Excellent time-management skills to ensure timely deliveries.
- Knowledge:
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to vehicle operation and material handling.
- Knowledge of local and regional traffic laws.
- Work Ethic:
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Regularly required to drive for extended periods.
- Exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
- Warehouse and loading dock environment may involve noise, dust, and occasional machinery operation.
