Aboutthe role
Join Transdev in Chandler, AZ to support the future of autonomous trucking. Drivers will operate passenger vehicles to aid operational testing, data collection, mapping, and various readiness tasks. This position does not require operating trucks in autonomous mode; operators drive manually and follow strict protocols and safety standards. Qualified individuals may later transition into specialized AV testing positions via internal certification and training pathways.
Whatyou'll do
- Operate passenger vehicles safely and professionally on public roads and closed courses
- Support autonomous vehicle (AV) missions by driving assigned support vehicles in coordination with AV test teams and mission coordinators
- Assist with mission‑specific objectives such as traffic flow support, route coordination, environmental coverage, safety support, and operational observations
- Support data collection activities by driving assigned routes accurately and consistently
- Conduct mapping and survey driving operations across urban, suburban, and highway environments
- Follow detailed mission plans, communication protocols, and instructions from operations personnel and mission coordinators
- Maintain high situational awareness and safe driving practices while operating in proximity to test vehicles
- Perform basic vehicle inspections before and after shifts
- Accurately document trips, incidents, observations, and operational notes
- Work closely with operations teams, coordinators, and field staff
- Maintain compliance with all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies
- Support flexible shift schedules, including evenings, weekends, or extended driving assignments when needed
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Minimum 3+ years of passenger vehicle driving experience
- Strong understanding of road safety and defensive driving practices
- Comfortable driving for extended periods in varying traffic and weather conditions
- Ability to follow navigation tools, maps, and route instructions accurately
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Basic technical proficiency with mobile devices and in‑vehicle systems
- Excellent communication and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in field operations, logistics, transportation, rideshare, delivery, fleet operations, or data collection programs
- Familiarity with mapping, surveying, or route validation activities
- Experience working in fast‑paced operational environments
- Exposure to automotive technology or advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
- Starting rate of $22.00 per hour
- Shift hours:
Nighttime common, some daytime shifts available - Weekly hours: 40–45 hours per week, availability required across all 7 days
- PTO:
Minimum one week - Sick days: 5 days

- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must consent to a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and meet company driving standards

- Must provide accurate employment history, licensing information, and disclose potential issues on pre‑employment screenings
- Must demonstrate proficiency with required technology and applications during the interview process
- Must confirm availability for the assigned schedule and willingness to work flexible shifts
- Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the role
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
