This is a Supply Chain intern position in support of the Erbe Medical Tempe site. Support both planning and materials management.
- Support planning and workorder clean up as needed.
- Assist finance by analyzing and reporting on inventory levels.
- Support kanban and other process improvements within the warehouse and cleanroom.
- Receive, log and record properly incoming inventory and other items, including inspection/testing as applicable.
- Manage inventory and replenish stock in the warehouse and the manufacturing raw material kanban sites, including the clean room.
- Maintain FIFO (esp. Expiration Dating), perform inventory transactions, and conduct routine cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Maintain internal reporting of pallets of finished goods.
- Assist in domestic shipments by generating pick slips, labels, and other shipping/receiving documentation.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Materials Manager.
This position is an individual contributor and has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This position operates in both the office and warehouse environment. This role will initially focus on Planning/ Procurement, understanding Work Order processes and Bill of Material. After training and understanding of the WO and Bill of Materials process, the position will transfer to the warehouse to learn the comprehensive practice of materials management. There will be routine use of standard materials movement equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, and materials cart.
The position also interacts with machinery on the manufacturing floor, raw materials, work-in-process, and end items.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and stoop; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee frequently is required to lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. For more information, please refer to the Position Analysis/Physical Activities Checklist on file in Human Resources.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position requiring at least 25 hours of work per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with core business hours being 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires no measurable travel.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Computer literacy is required and prior experience with ERP systems is preferred.
- The ability to complete receiving, inventory, and shipping paperwork.
- Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Supply Chain Management.
- Excellent verbal and written communications required; strong interpersonal skills required.
- Must be detail-oriented and deliver high quality work in a high-volume environment.
- Good mathematical calculation ability, (work well with numbers).
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Operate a forklift. Use pallet jack, hand truck, and materials cart.
- Must be able to handle confidential information in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Ability to remain flexible and open to change within a fluid global industry.
