POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Finance is responsible for leading all financial management, accounting operations, and financial planning activities within the organization. This role oversees the integrity of financial reporting, ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards (including U.S. GAAP and relevant international reporting considerations), and provides strategic financial insight to support business decision-making and profitability.

The Director of Finance will manage all accounting functions including general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, cost and margin analysis, and internal controls. This role serves as a key financial partner to leadership, operations, sales, purchasing, project management, and external stakeholders such as auditors, banks, and parent/sister company representatives.

The Director of Finance supervises the accounting team and is responsible for developing robust financial processes, improving reporting accuracy and timeliness, and supporting the company’s overall financial health and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting to support executive decision-making
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Manage preparation of financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity
  • Supervise accounting staff and ensure adherence to established accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee cost accounting, inventory valuation, fixed asset accounting, margin analysis, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and accounting policies to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in collaboration with department leaders
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting models and ensure adequate liquidity to meet operational needs
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timely collection and disbursement
  • Optimize banking relationships and support strategies to strengthen cash position and working capital management
  • Provide financial analysis and support for customer projects, pricing, and contract profitability
  • Support cross-functional teams (operations, sales, purchasing, project management) with financial insights and reporting
  • Prepare financial reports and commentary for internal leadership and parent/sister company reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting tools, and accounting processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
  • 7–12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; familiarity with international accounting standards (e.g., German GAAP) preferred
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, cost accounting, and financial planning & analysis (FP&A)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems (ERP experience preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
