Operations Manager, Production Manager
The General Manager owns the full P&L performance of the manufacturing function, including internal production and co‑manufacturing execution. This role is accountable for delivering profitable, reliable, and scalable production by balancing:
- Business Unit P&L Ownership
- Own the Business Unit P&L:
Revenue, COGS, and Expenses - Drive improvements in Gross Margin, Cost Per Unit, and Efficiency
- Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities across materials utilization, labor productivity and process efficiency
- Evaluate tradeoffs between cost vs service level, efficiency vs flexibility, and internal vs external production (in coordination with brand owners)
- Own the Business Unit P&L:
- Manufacturing Operations Leadership
- Own all manufacturing output across internal facilities and Co‑manufacturing partners (where applicable)
- Ensure production meets volume targets, quality standard, and delivery timelines
- Cost & Efficiency Management
- Continuously improve labor productivity, line efficiency, equipment utilization, scrap reduction
- Implement operational improvements that directly improve margin
- Manufacturing Planning Oversight
- Own capacity strategy to maximize asset utilization and margin contribution
- Partner with Planning and S&OP to align production with demand and optimize product mix for profitability
- Production Scheduling to maximize throughput, minimize changeover, and improve cost efficiency
- Accountable for the financial impact of manufacturing decisions
- Quality & Compliance
- Partner with Director of Quality to ensure product integrity, regulatory compliance, and balance quality with cost and throughput efficiency
- Instill and reinforce culture of compliance across staff
- Develop and Report on KPIs
- Manufacturing: COGS vs Target, Cost Per Unit, Gross Margin Contribution, Labor and Overhead Efficiency, Production Yield vs Target
- Customer: OTIF, Customer Specific Gross Margin
10+ years in manufacturing leadership within an FDA regulated facility
Top Required Skills- Multi-line or multi-site operations
- High‑mix production environments
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
