The City of Temple City is seeking a Parks & Trees Supervisor to plan, schedule, assign, review, and supervise the work of crews in the Park Maintenance and Urban Forestry divisions. This position oversees daily operations related to park maintenance and tree care, including landscaping, irrigation, tree trimming, and tree removal activities. The Parks & Trees Supervisor is responsible for coordinating contractual services, procuring equipment and supplies, assisting with division budget administration, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with City standards.
This position also participates in maintenance and repair activities and performs related duties as required.
Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Completion of high school or equivalent GED is required.
- Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in facility and park maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, tree trimming, tree removal, commercial equipment operation, at least two of which must be in a supervisory/lead position required.
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in construction management, public administration or closely related field is desirable.
- Possessionofavalid Class Cmotorvehicleoperator 'slicensefromthe
Stateof California. - A current Arborist certification issued from the International Society of Arboriculture or must obtain within one year of appointment to the position.
