At Baylor Scott & White Clinic - Temple Downtown, we take care of patients of all ages. Conveniently located in Temple, were dedicated to helping the families in our local community live their healthiest lives.

The care team here includes primary care physicians and advanced practice professionals who work together to create a care plan that puts you at the center of your health.

Practice Model & Support

• Team Structure:
  • 4 Physicians
  • 3 APPs
  • On-site PSS, RN, Radiology & Point-of-Care Lab
• 1:1 Medical Assistant support for every APP
• Strong infrastructure so providers can stay focused on patient care

Patient Volume

• 18 patients per day

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

• Monday - Friday
• 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1.0 FTE / 8-hour shifts)
• One Saturday every 2 months (rotation)
• Moonlighting opportunities available for extra income

Role Focus

• 100% outpatient primary care
• No hospital rounding, no procedures, no call

Experience Level

• 1+ year of experience preferred
• New graduates welcome
  • Clinic provides the mentorship and support needed to be successful

The Physician Assistant (PA) Primary Care is a licensed, certified healthcare provider. They provide direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice.

These providers typically provide care to patients in an internal medicine, family medicine, geriatric or pediatric clinic.

• Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and obtaining medical histories.
• Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
• Prescribes, recommends, or uses medical drug therapies or other treatments. Performs procedures following approved protocols, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost.
• Recommends interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks.
• Creates and carries out detailed patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and care standards. Collaborates with physicians and team members when needed.
• Evaluates patients response to health care provided and the effectiveness of care.
• Counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
• Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects. Discusses interactions with substances like food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
• Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope or expertise.
• Provide consultation level services for conditions /problems related to the Providers specialty and training.
