Position: Assistant Professor, Math (9 Month)

Position Summary

Under general supervision from the departmental chair, the incumbent teaches courses as scheduled, cultivates healthy teacher‑student relationships, and engages students in active learning.

The incumbent will make recommendations regarding curriculum changes, text selection, and content revision, and perform administrative aspects of instruction promptly.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics or Master’s Degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics.
  • Experience teaching in a community college (preferred).
  • Valid Texas Driver License, or ability to obtain one.
Job Duties
  • Evaluate and grade students’ class work, laboratory and clinic work, and assignments.
  • Administer, compile, and grade examinations as assigned.
  • Instruct distance education and dual credit courses as assigned.
  • Develop clear and innovative syllabi and course material.
  • Demonstrate professional written and oral communication skills with students.
  • Utilize technology to improve instructional methodology.
  • Incorporate best practices and integrate diverse perspectives into curriculum.
  • Maintain accessibility to students for advisement and consultation.
  • Seek feedback to improve teaching quality.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, or programs to enhance professional growth.
  • Participate in academic and professional organizations.
  • Supervise and evaluate student performance in simulated and clinical environments (if applicable).
  • Demonstrate respect, professionalism, and collegiality with colleagues and students.
  • Complete administrative aspects of instructional responsibilities timely.
  • Contribute to department instruction/curriculum development or revision.
  • Participate in task forces or committees that contribute to college growth.
  • Engage in activities that contribute to community development.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Physical & Working Conditions
  • Primarily light physical activity; may lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Keyboarding and computer use, audio/visual equipment.
  • Work performed in an interior/office environment; travel to offsite centers may be required.
