Under the direction of the Survey Division Manager, the Surveyor Engineer coordinates a field survey party, performs technically complex surveying duties for heavy highway construction staking, and may handle machine control paving, profilographing, and other heavy highway projects.
Key responsibilities include
- Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with Project Managers, Resident Engineers, and contractor representatives.
- Assign and monitor work for the field survey crew.
- Instruct and train crew in surveying methods, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Collect field survey data using conventional and GPS methods.
- Setup, adjust, and operate various surveying equipment to measure distances, elevations, and angles.
- Perform complex surveying and engineering calculations and prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, and other survey reports.
- Represent the company at project and client meetings.
- Support and enforce all safety policies, company policies, and procedures.
- Set and pursue challenging goals, demonstrate persistence, and pursue self-development opportunities.
- Maintain professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Generate suggestions for improving work and developing innovative approaches.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed.
- Minimum of 4 years of survey experience in heavy civil/highway construction (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Trimble and Leica equipment (preferred, not mandatory).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Trimble Business Center (preferred but not mandatory).
