The Point of Care (PoC) Coordinator supervises, establishes, and monitors PoC testing according to accepted Laboratory practices and regulations. The coordinator cooperates with internal and external customers. They collaborate with other team members and disciplines to coordinate patient care.

• Establishes testing and quality control procedures for all POC testing. Monitors the recording and reporting of test results.
• Monitors all required documentation and quality control results at each POC testing location. Performs statistical studies like CV, DS, and trend studies. This is required by regulatory agencies on quality control. Identifies, documents, and takes corrective action if necessary.
• Calibrates and standardizes POC instruments using criteria of acceptable functions and performance limits. This includes linearity, reproducibility, and correlations as set by the manufacturer or regulatory agencies.
• Assesses data needs, designs data collection procedures, and identifies quality assurance monitors and indicators. Reviews all data examined at each testing location.
• Establishes and performs training and assessment programs for super users and new operators.
• Monitors POC testing personnel proficiency records and ensures that annual expertise training and exams are successfully completed.
• Coordinates inventories and oversees orders for supplies as appropriate.
• Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director.

• EDUCATION - Bachelor’s or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
• EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience
• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

ASCP-Blood Banking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC), ASCP-Hematology Specialist (ASCP-SH), ASCP-Microbiology Specialist (ASCP-SM), Cert Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS-ABHI):
Must have one certification. Cert Histocompatibility Technician (CHT-ABHI), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Specialist in Cytology-ASCP (SCT), Specialist in Cytometry-ASCP (SCYM), Molecular Biology Specialist-ASCP (SMB).
