Student Intern Therapist

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health (affiliated with United Health Systems) is a 102-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Temple, Texas. Canyon Creek features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care and intensive outpatient programs. We are enthusiastic about providing compassionate health care from our team here at Canyon Creek Behavioral Health.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Student Intern Therapist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This internship is designed for students currently enrolled in a Master's level program (Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy) who are seeking to complete their practicum or internship hours in an acute behavioral health setting.

You will gain hands-on experience working with a diverse patient population experiencing acute mental health crises, substance use disorders, and complex behavioral challenges. Under the direct supervision of a licensed professional (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT), you will transition from observation to leading clinical interventions.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Master's degree program in Social Work (MSW), Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or a related field.
• Completion of core clinical coursework and approval from the university's internship coordinator.
• Timely renewal of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Basic Life Support) for healthcare professional's certification, annual professional skills verification, and HWC (Handle with Care) behavioral management certification.
