Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist 1 plans, organizes and provides professional services in restorative, functional and preventative therapeutic programs to patients. Clinical practice includes evaluation and occupational therapy treatment planning to facilitate rehabilitation of the mental, physical or emotional person with a disability. Works closely with patients and family to establish and meet treatment goals.

Essential functions of the role include evaluating, treating and monitoring patients, modifying therapy programs and goals, performing thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner, entering charges accurately, communicating effectively with patients and families, departmental coworkers and members of the medical care team, providing education to patients, family and staff, supervising ancillary staff, students and volunteers, advancing clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review and implementation of evidence-based practice, imparting knowledge to develop the clinical skills of colleagues, adhering to organizational, national and state regulatory guidelines, maintaining awareness of system goals, and aligning personal goals and work activities to uphold or impact the system goals.

Key success factors include possessing problem solving skills at a level necessary to accomplish the job, possessing good communication skills and being able to relate professionally and positively to patients, patient's family members and facility staff, exhibiting proven face-to-face synergy and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team and assuring delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers, possessing proficient computer knowledge;

operating multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment, having high attention to detail in a fast paced and dynamic environment, and being able to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

Qualifications include education of Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification, experience of less than 1 year, and certification/license/registration of Occupational Therapist (OT) Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
