Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT/CLT) – located at Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, Temple, TX. Position is full‑time, salary range $27.00-$27.50 per hour.
Responsibilities- Use independent technical judgment to analyze and interpret laboratory results.
- Perform, evaluate, interpret, correlate, and validate the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results.
- Monitor quality control systems and measures; perform QA activities and corrective actions using statistical principles.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Identify and resolve problems encountered in the laboratory; communicate findings to the healthcare team.
- Analyze specimen collection and processing, adjusting procedures to maintain accuracy.
- Interpret complex written instructions and comply with laboratory quality control and quality assurance procedures.
- Document equipment function, calibrations, and repairs; use scientific principles to correct deviations.
- Respond to inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity, and sensitivity.
- Meet all acceptable quality and productivity standards as defined by the Chief, P&LMS or designee.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in Applied Science or related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience.
- American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician.
- Experience with Sysmex XN3100 Hematology Analyzer & Slide Maker Stainer.
- Experience with Sysmex Cellavision Digital Imaging.
- Experience with Diagnostica STAR Max Coagulation Analyzer.
- Experience with Beckman Iris Velocity & IQ Select Urinalysis Analyzer.
- Experience with Beckman Coulter AU5800 Chemistry Analyzer.
- Experience with Beckman Coulter DxI
800 Immunoassay Analyzer. - Experience with Beckman Coulter Power Express Automation Line.
- Experience with osmometer.
