Job Description

The function of this position is to work with Phenolic Treating Leadership and the team members on all aspects of treating, and troubleshooting through training and process improvements in Safety, Service, Yield, Waste, Uptime, Preventive Maintenance, and processes and procedures that will positively impact the Operational Effectiveness of the Phenolic Department.

This will involve partnering with Engineering, Maintenance, R&D, Product Quality, and the Phenolic leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Documented training of all Phenolic treating roles.
  • Trouble shoot Phenolic treating issues and/or escalate to leadership.
  • Must be able to recommend and evaluate processes for improvement.
  • Must be able to recommend steps to eliminate waste of raw materials, people time and equipment time.
  • Establish PM and TPM processes.
  • This role willingly accepts responsibility and is accountable for all process improvements and training.
  • Must be able to assess progress, risk, plan next steps, along with any negative impacts to the continuous improvement and openly convey this to the Leadership team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Hands-on experience / knowledge of Phenolic Treating.
  • Qualified candidate will need to be able to train and explain the "WHY" of the importance of each step of the process.
  • Able to Check Phenolic and Release Kraft Papers.
  • Able to run a Phenolic treater.
  • Able to perform the Phenolic wet end job at a high level.
  • Able to handle Kraft papers and Phenolic, Release, and Chemical resin professionally.
  • Able to operate and trouble shoot the Resin control units.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures and other controlled documents
  • Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills
  • Willing to learn the basic understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, handle multiple tasks, work with interruptions, prioritize workload, deal effectively with confidential information and understand and implement written and verbal instructions.
  • Oracle Transitions.
  • Weekend work as needed.
  • Manage inventory/coordinate with inventory team to close out WIP jobs.
  • Manage Daily Cycle Counts.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

High School Graduate or GED

Experience:

3+ years Experience working in a Phenolic treating role.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements:

Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight of 50 - 100 pounds.

Environment:
Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
