Overview

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health (a Universal Health Services facility) is a 102-bed acute care psychiatric hospital located in Temple, Texas. The center provides treatment options for adolescents and adults struggling with psychiatric health, chemical dependency, and mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. It offers individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and provides inpatient acute care and intensive outpatient programs.

Position:
Nurse Manager

The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with established standards of care, mental health practice, and hospital policy, goals, and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, and educational and performance improvement efforts while supervising House Supervisors, RNs, and MHTs. The Nurse Manager monitors staffing needs on assigned shifts, assists the DON/ADON in evaluating, reviewing, designing, and implementing hospital training events for RN and MHT staff, and provides patient nursing assessments on an as needed basis.

The role participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed.

Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required or equivalent combination of education and experience in nursing management;
    Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of one (5) year s of experience progressive nursing leadership experience. Experience in staff education and education concepts, practices, and procedures and 24 hour shift staffing experience.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
  • Additional Requirements: Thorough knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. CPR certification within 30 days of employment and successful completion of training in Management of Assaultive Behavior (CPI) Crisis Prevention Intervention and Service Excellence Training within 90 days of employment.
