Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a full time Registered Nurse to join our amazing Level One OR Department. Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 636-bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin.
This team covers vascular and cardiac cases including endovascular, TAVR, off-pump CABG, valve replacement, AAA and other procedures. We have 2 hybrid suites for endovascular care.

Unit SummaryWe are a fast-paced unit caring for very critical patients. Every day is a different day. The operating room nurse works closely with anesthesia and surgeons in a team environment to ensure safe passage through the intraoperative phase of care.
33 operating rooms and 2 lithotomy suites
We provide surgical care for multiple service lines including cardiac, vascular, neuro, gynecology, urology, ENT, orthopedics, general surgery, trauma surgery, robotics, and oral surgery.
We are a team oriented, welcoming, and supportive unit. We enjoy teaching new team members and want to grow new staff to meet their goals. We encourage staff to pursue further education, learn to scrub, and participate in unit projects and committees.
JOB SUMMARYThe Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient’s response. The RN promotes safe passage for their patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays.
The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient’s condition and the competencies of the employee.
THE ROLE
- Clinical Judgment: conduct accurate clinical assessments, identify and prioritize patient and family needs, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans, and modify them to meet clinical outcomes.
- Clinical Inquiry: systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, support evidence-based practice changes through research and experiential learning, and participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
