To provide supervision, coordination, and evaluation of the day‑to‑day nursing activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility on a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week basis.
Sign‑on bonus: $3,500 paid to full‑time employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assumes 24‑hour oversight for resident care and nursing staff during assigned shift as Facility Supervisor.
- Receives report from outgoing Facility Supervisor.
- Monitors staffing levels for current and upcoming shifts based on acuity.
- Responds to any crisis situation during assigned shift.
- Ensures nursing personnel comply with written policies and procedures established by the facility.
- Periodically reviews department policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions; makes recommendations for revisions.
- Reviews and participates in updating resident written care plans as required.
- Completes and reviews accident/incident reports and follows up as necessary with QA Director and DON/ADON; reports and investigates all allegations of resident abuse (including physical, verbal, mental, sexual, involuntary seclusion, neglect, and misappropriation of property).
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly audits and submits to ADON/DON/QA as required.
- Maintains the Daily Census Report and submits to the Business Office or designee per facility process.
- Rounds on unit to ensure resident care needs and environmental standards are met; investigates and manages any problem areas in the facility, reporting outcomes.
- Actively participates in committees/programs directed by the ADON/DON.
- Participates in the Quality Assurance process, including attendance at QA meetings and submission of required reports each month.
- Communicates changes in resident condition to physician, family, or responsible party; meets with residents and/or family as necessary.
- Attends and participates in facility mandated in‑service trainings.
- Maintains a written record of resident grievances and indicates actions taken and current status.
- Participates in facility surveys (inspections) conducted by authorized government agencies.
- Acts as a resource for nursing staff.
- Collaborates with ADON/DON and Staff Development to identify and provide orientation and continuing education for nursing staff.
- Provides direct nursing care as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved RN program.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in Texas.
- Must have leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to supervise other personnel. One‑year prior experience in nursing management preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, and laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long‑term care.
- Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into nursing practices.
- Must be able to assess and relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
- Must cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be willing to be on‑call and to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights as required.
- Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved RN program.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in Texas.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required prior to work, preferably from the American Heart Association, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
