Registered Nurse; RN - Day Shifts

Overview

Psychiatric Nurse (RN) at Canyon Creek Behavioral Health – a 102‑bed acute care psychiatric hospital located in Temple, TX.

Shift: Days 6:30 am–7:00 pm (rotating weekends).

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ mental health status and needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.
• Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
• Perform physical examinations and vital signs monitoring as required.
• Engage in patient education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in psychiatric nursing.

• Proficiency in medical terminology for documentation.
• Experience with behavioral health patients.
• Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients.
• Familiarity with geriatric care practices.
• Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting.
• Competence in taking vital signs accurately.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.

• Education: Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program; preferred Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience: Minimum one year of nursing experience; preferred two years in a psychiatric health‑care facility.
• Licensure: Texas State Board of Nursing license.
• Additional Requirements: CPR certification; training in Seclusion and Restraint, Handle with Care, Service Excellence within 30 days of employment.
