RN Forensic Nurse – Full Time Nights

OverviewJoin a specialized team making a difference. This is a full-time night shift opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) – Forensic Services to provide forensic nursing care to adult and pediatric patients who have experienced sexual assault, abuse, or violence. The RN Forensic Nurse will practice autonomously within the nursing scope while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive expert clinical care, advocacy, and support during vulnerable moments.

Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts), 3 shifts per week
Patient Population:
Adult and Pediatric
- Conduct comprehensive forensic assessments for adult and pediatric patients.
- Provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to survivors of sexual assault and abuse.
- Collect, document, and preserve forensic evidence in accordance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate referrals and collaborate with physicians, law enforcement, social services, and community resources as appropriate.
- Deliver patient and family education, support, and advocacy throughout the care process.
- Maintain accurate clinical and forensic documentation.
- Participate in ongoing training, certification, and professional development activities.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Texas RN license or compact RN license.
- Minimum of several years of nursing experience required.
- Ability to work night shifts and participate in specialized forensic training.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and assessment skills.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) experience and certified SANE-A and SANE-P
- Previous emergency, trauma, forensic, or pediatric nursing experience
- Experience caring for vulnerable populations in high-acuity or sensitive situations

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
Essential Functions OfThe Role
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
- Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism.
- Develop care plans that reflect values and aid in resolving issues.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Assess and document learning needs regularly.
- Collaborate with colleagues and community resources to create care plans. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
- Use varied problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff. Prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in care planning and delivery.
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork, growth, and community service.
- Strong understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, and applicable laws and guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and patient care concepts, including medications and side effects.
- Respect for medical ethics and patient privacy rights.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer skills, including electronic medical documentation and standard office software.
