Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery

Schedule: Monday–Wednesday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
On-Call Requirement: Yes
Weekend Requirement: Only if called in

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery for a 13-week travel assignment in Temple, TX. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of CV/Thor OR experience with strong expertise in open-heart surgery, open vascular procedures, and endovascular cases.
Responsibilities- Provide specialized perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures.
- Serve as a circulating nurse during complex CV/Thor cases.
- Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to procedure requirements.
- Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and the healthcare team.
- Assist with open-heart, open vascular, and endovascular surgical procedures.
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection prevention standards.
- Perform surgical safety checks, time-outs, and accurate surgical counts.
- Monitor patient condition throughout the perioperative process.
- Ensure proper documentation of surgical procedures and patient care.
- Support emergency surgical interventions and maintain patient safety.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required.
- Strong cardiovascular/thoracic surgery background required.
- Experience with:
- Open Heart Surgery
- Open Vascular Surgery
- Endovascular Procedures
- Current BLS certification required.
- Strong knowledge of OR workflow, surgical protocols, and cardiovascular procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- 13-week travel assignment.
- AM shift:
Monday–Wednesday, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM. - On-call requirement included.
- Weekend coverage only if called in.
- One-round interview process.
