Postdoctoral Research Associate
Texas A&M Agri Life Research at Temple is seeking a highly motivated scientist with expertise in crop modeling, remote sensing, and geospatial technologies. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team at Texas A&M Agri Life Research to support research focused on modeling crop growth and yield, water use, and carbon and nitrogen cycling under a range of agricultural management practices.
Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be actively involved in all phases of field research projects, including experimental design, implementation, data collection, analysis, modeling, and dissemination of research findings. Responsibilities will include managing field experiments, coordinating and conducting ground-truth data collection, and operating, testing, validating, and refining crop models to improve prediction accuracy. The candidate will also contribute to the development and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) approaches for crop management, yield prediction, and decision-support systems.
Additional responsibilities include preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the development of competitive grant proposals, presenting research findings at scientific meetings, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• PhD in Agronomy, Geosciences, Environmental sciences, or closely related discipline.
• Strong background in agricultural remote sensing.
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in handling remotely sensed geospatial datasets and programming languages, particularly R or Python.
• Knowledge, experience, and interest in assessing the impacts of agricultural management practices on environmental outcomes, such as carbon/nitrogen cycling, carbon sequestration, GHG emissions, and global warming potential.
• Excellent academic record, including authored/co-authored publications and contributions to significant scientific meetings, seminars, and conferences.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
Salary:
Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate's qualifications.
