Responsibilities- The Pipe Layer / Operator foreman will be responsible for supervising crews that install wet and dry utilities in settings including water lines, storm drain and sanitary sewer lines, and dry conduits.
- Read, understand, interpret and enforce safety policies and practices.
- Examine blueprints to determine dimensions of structures and lay out floor-plans/worksites as needed.
- Determine sequence of activities related to fabrication, assembly, and erection of structures.
- Assign workers to tasks and inspect work performed by subordinates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and improve efficiency.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Analyze and resolve work problems, assist workers in solving issues, and motivate the crew to achieve goals.
- Maintain time and production records and manage materials (estimates, requisitions, inspections).
- Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job, including basic understanding of equipment limits and purposes.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of supervising/crew leadership experience.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of pipe laying experience.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of operating large heavy equipment in connection with pipe laying.
- Commitment to work safely.
- Ability to carry 70 lbs. or more and perform frequent movements such as bending, climbing, twisting, balancing, stooping.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Flexible availability to include overtime and weekends.
