Summary
Under general supervision, the Heavy-duty Truck Technician inspects, diagnoses, and repairs moderately complex issues associated with diesel-powered vehicles and machines, like trucks, forklifts and construction equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Performs preventative maintenance services in conformance to manufacturer specifications
- Diagnoses and repairs heavy-duty vehicle and equipment systems
- Orders parts as needed
- Responds to road calls
- Conducts road and static testing to verify repairs
- Takes vehicles to and from outside vendors for repairs and services
- Maintains a clean and orderly Fleet Shop
- Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four (4) years experience as a Diesel Engine Technician or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Furnishes own hand tools
- Valid Class C Driver’s license
- EPA Section 609 Certification within 30 days of employment
- ASE
Certifications:
T4, T5 & T6 (may be substituted
with an additional 4 years of heavy duty technician
experience)
