Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 40 hours

This Position is Responsible for:

Social Services Responsibilities (25%)
  • Greets and interviews clients requesting assistance to determine client eligibility based on program guidelines and restrictions; records disposition and other pertinent information such as income, expenses, family and work history; assists clients in completing applications for assistance; photocopies documents.
  • Prepares, completes and processes food, clothing and furniture vouchers for eligible clients; directs clients to Family Store or Food Pantry.
  • Locates and arranges temporary housing for eligible clients; contacts local lodging, shelters, motels, churches, etc.
  • Processes rent and utility financial assistance; contacts utility organizations and landlords.
Case Management Responsibilities (15%)
  • Conducts home visitations when appropriate; ensures living quarters are furnished and maintained; facilitates needed repairs; conducts inspections.
  • Follows up with clients at scheduled intervals to determine housing and financial stability.
  • Refers clients to appropriate Corps programs or other agencies based on needs and program plan.
Food Pantry Responsibilities (20%)
  • Prepares food bags/boxes according to family size; packs and marks boxes for distribution.
  • Receives, inspects, and sorts donated food, prepares labels and packages.
  • Keeps pantry organized and well-stocked; lifts and carries items for distribution.
  • Coordinates retrieval, storage, and distribution of food and commodities; monitors expiration dates.
  • Determines amount of food to order; maintains inventory; informs supervisor when supplies are low; prepares records and charts for distribution.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for volunteers; trains and supports them.
Liaison Responsibilities (20%)
  • Acts as liaison to partner agencies to obtain/coordinate assistance; builds relationships.
  • Manages office space for partners; schedules onsite partner activities; communicates weekly schedules.
  • Coordinated with corporate partners for in‑kind donations; maintains list of needs.
Administrative Responsibilities (20%)
  • Inputs client information into database accurately and timely; prepares and files records; reviews and tracks records.
  • Prepares and maintains statistical records; compiles monthly reports.
  • Answers telephone courteously; provides accurate information about program operations.
Other Responsibilities
  • Performs related work for special and seasonal projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of effective methods for organizing and maintaining records.
  • Knowledge of social service practices and principles.

  • Ability to determine eligibility based on program guidelines.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with public and community agencies.
  • Ability to prepare accurate client records, reports and statistics.
  • Ability to present a positive professional image.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with diverse groups and remain sensitive to concerns.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or related field;
    Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Two years experience in social or public service with public assistance; or equivalent training/experience.
