Youth/Teen Social Worker

Status: Full time, in person

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Youth/Teen Social Worker to develop and implement programs that support the well-being of teens and their families. This role will focus on supporting the needs of youth and teens in ongoing youth focused programs and creating a Teen Drop-In Center that serves as a safe, welcoming space for teens and parents to seek guidance, support and help as needed.

Additionally, this role will encompass curating a Resource Library to provide valuable community resources to help teens and families understand what resources are available in the community to further help teens and families navigate specific challenges and gain access to additional support. The Youth/Teen Social Worker will work closely with Youth/Teens, Parents, and community partners to enhance access to mental health support, social services, and educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

and Opportunities
  • Develop and manage a Teen Drop-In Center: Create a welcoming, inclusive space where teens and parents can find support, engage in activities, and connect with resources.
  • Establish and maintain a Resource Library: Curate and update a database of community services, including mental health support, educational resources, career guidance, and other essential services for teens and parents.
  • Provide individual and group support: Offer counseling, crisis intervention, and referral services to teens and families in need.
  • Collaborate with community partners: Develop partnerships with local organizations, schools, mental health providers, and social services to expand resources and support for teens.
  • Facilitate workshops and programs: Organize and lead educational and support programs addressing topics such as mental health, academic challenges, family relationships, and social development.
  • Conduct outreach and advocacy: Engage with schools, parents, and local groups to promote teen well-being and increase awareness of available services.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness: Assess the impact of services offered and implement improvements as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing after school programming to establish relationships with youth and teens and build relationships with community
  • Camp leadership team supporting Mental health services at camp
  • Supervise social work interns in partnership with JFCS Social Worker
Community Engagement and Outreach
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants, emphasizing accessibility and diversity in programming.
  • Act as the primary ambassador for Mental Health Support throughout the Kaplen JCC programs, cultivating relationships with members, donors, and the broader community.
  • Identify opportunities to expand programs, including grants, sponsor ships, and partnerships.
  • Lead a team of instructors, counselors, and volunteers, providing mentorship, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture aligned with the Kaplen JCC's mission and values.
Staff Leadership and Development

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 (commensurate with experience)

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications & Specialized Skills

  • Advanced Education-Master of Social Work
  • Background in teen-centered programming and support
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a passion for engaging with children, families, and members.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (required, can be provided on site by the Kaplen JCC).
  • Passionate about youth development and community engagement.
  • Innovative and adaptable in designing programs and addressing challenges.
  • Flexible schedule, including Sundays and evenings, to accommodate programming.
