Sr. Accountant

Description

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant who can step in and support core accounting functions while leading several cleanup and process-improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with strong general ledger expertise, prior experience in systems cleanup, and comfort working in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365). The client also values someone who can help formalize processes and draft clear, effective SOPs for the accounting team.

+ Primary Focus Areas: GL cleanup, process documentation, SOP creation, month-end close

What You Will Do

- Perform comprehensive general ledger cleanup, including account reconciliation, error correction, reclassification, and data validation

- Manage key areas of the month-end close process-journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and analysis

- Review historical postings, identify discrepancies, and resolve legacy issues impacting reporting accuracy

- Assist with improving the chart of accounts and standardizing coding practices across departments

- Utilize D365 to audit transaction flows, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system usage

- Partner with the Controller and accounting team to document workflows and draft standard operating procedures

- Support process improvements and internal control enhancements, especially around recurring tasks and month-end activities

- Prepare financial schedules, reporting support, and analysis as needed

- Collaborate with operations, AP, AR, and finance teams to ensure accuracy and alignment in accounting processes

Requirements

What You Bring

+ 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience

+ Strong experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)

+ Demonstrated success performing general ledger cleanup or remediation projects

+ Familiarity with process documentation, SOPs, or internal control workflows

+ Solid understanding of GAAP and month-end close requirements

+ Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets

+ Ability to investigate issues independently and bring solutions forward

+ Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
