Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services
Position(s) to be filled:
Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services, Western Mental Health Institute, Hardeman County. This is an on‑site position.
Background check required:
Criminal background check and other disclosures.
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree AND one year of full‑time professional staff administrative and/or analytic experience.
Substitution of Experience for
Education:
Qualifying full‑time increasingly responsible sub professional, para‑professional, or professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year‑for‑year basis, to a maximum of four years.
Substitution of Education for
Experience:
Additional graduate coursework in public administration, business administration, or other acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year‑for‑year basis.
OR One year of professional administrative services experience with the State of Tennessee.
Necessary Special Qualifications for Department of Human Services positions:
- Complete a criminal history disclosure form.
- Agree to release all records involving criminal history.
- Supply a fingerprint sample for TBI‑based criminal history records check.
- Submit to a review of status on the Department of Health’s vulnerable persons registry.
Special requirements for Disability Determinations Section, Division of Rehabilitation Services:
- Complete a federal background check per HSPD‑12 for issuance of an HSPD‑12 compliant PIV credential card.
Under general supervision, responsible for staff administrative work of average difficulty to support line operations, performing tasks such as budget development, contract monitoring, personnel administration, research, planning, information compilation, procurement, grant proposal review, forms design, and report preparation.
ResponsibilitiesState of Tennessee positions that may involve driving responsibilities require candidates to meet the following minimum driver qualifications:
- A valid driver's license
- No record of driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than four moving violations in the past five years.
