Job Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Plant Area Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising the Packing, Blending, and Pulling operations, planning production and volume, customer communication activities, space utilization & management, and equipment management. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, labor management planning, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures the development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Manages operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals and complies with client SLAs.
  • Drives continuous improvement efforts and provides ideas and suggestions for more efficient operations and ongoing cost‑saving measures.
  • Meets all client‑specified KPIs and complies with quality system requirements.
  • Applies sound communication and motivational techniques, creates fair supervision programs, counsels, and disciplines team members when needed.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources; assists in hiring, training, and professional development programs and participates in performance evaluation and promotion processes.
  • Delivers results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
  • Keeps senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations.
  • Plans daily work schedules based on work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assesses priorities and assigns duties to warehouse staff.
  • Reviews volume demands to plan for reorganization of warehouse space and changes in supplies, equipment, or staffing.
  • Ensures effective training is delivered and adheres to SOPs (DSV and client).
  • Supports the leadership team in assessing trainee progress, new‑hire performance, and DSV cultural fit.
  • Maintains high motivation levels to focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Provides ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
  • Supports adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conducts routine staff meetings to review daily/weekly activities.
  • Ensures all team members are properly trained and efficient in required information systems (including WMS systems) to meet company and client objectives.
  • Ensures necessary computer software and hardware are purchased per Corporate IT policies and guidelines.
  • Remains knowledgeable about changes in hardware and software technology; develops proficiency in client systems.
  • Manages high‑level customer service standards; provides operational and administrative support to client accounts.
  • Maintains appropriate contact with all functions and responds to requests; attends or leads meetings with key customers to discuss issues.
  • Coordinates management of supplier/customer visits to the site and promotes positive client relationships through excellent customer service.
  • Supports the development of an annual operating budget; manages controls to ensure service levels and operational performance goals are met within cost, revenue, and profit parameters.
  • Assists with budgeting and pricing activities to ensure compliance with contract guidelines.
  • Manages programs for maintaining sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment, including material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Ensures MHE training for team members and keeps informed of new technology to make recommendations.
  • Achieves company injury‑frequency‐rating goals and other safety metrics by establishing a proactive safety culture.
  • Audits warehouse for safety, security, and quality compliance and ensures adherence to all statutory requirements.
  • Works overtime as dictated by business needs.
  • Performs other assigned duties as required.
  • Manages warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
