Job Summary

Black & Veatch seeks an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation QC Inspector who will assure that the quality of the work performed by crew personnel and subcontractors meets all project requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Assures work on‑site meets applicable codes and specifications.
- Safely observe and carefully prepare inspection reports with photos and illustrations.
- Perform task assignments for the MOPO, Shutdown, Commissioning, and Start‑Up Teams.
- Conduct surveillance/audits of site crew personnel and subcontractor quality control programs, reviewing documentation for the certification of construction and testing equipment.
- Review turnover packages prior to commissioning/start‑up handoff.
- Surveil installation of General and Electrical production teams related to medium‑voltage electrical, process control instrumentation, SCADA, and MODCOM.
- Inspect conduit support racks, conduit installation, control piping, tubing, wiring, instruments, valves, SCADA and communication systems, and related equipment.
- Conduct visual and analytical inspections to verify proper operation, coordinate punch‑list walk‑downs, and manage punch‑list establishment.
Experience:
- 3+ years as Superintendent with a degree, or 5+ years without.
- Must successfully complete mandatory pre‑employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor‑vehicle records search) as mandated by law.
- Experience in electrical inspection on Heavy Commercial, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Nuclear, Military, or Treatment Plant fields.
- Knowledge of Treatment Plants, Power, Hydro Plants, and Industrial Facilities.
- Non‑inspection electrical experience as a Certified QEW in similar fields.
- B.S. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 4+ years construction experience.
Mandated discipline certification (e.g., AWS CWI, ISM) or an equivalent geographically recognized certification is desired.
Work Environment/Physical DemandsPhysical Demands:
- Lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in confined and cluttered spaces, and uneven areas.
- See and hear naturally or with correction.
- Maintain full range of motion and flexibility.
- Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls per procedure.
- Perform repetitive movement.
- Work above 5 feet in height; climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
Work Environment:
- Construction site with cramped spaces and awkward positions.
- Exposure to temperatures above 90°F or below 32°F, dust, wind, snow, rain, or other inclement weather.
- Extremely bright or low lighting and high noise levels.
- Hazardous equipment in proximity.
- Typical office environment.
- Position is considered safety‑sensitive.
