Sports Reporter

Overview

The Daily Times is seeking an energetic reporter to cover sports in Blount and surrounding counties, including Maryville College and University of Tennessee sports. The position is full-time and regular (30+ hours per week) in Tennessee and North Carolina regions (Maryville, Alcoa, TN area).

• Cover high school sports with game reporting, features, and enterprise reporting.
• Prepare a preps notebook and select high school all-star teams by sport.
• Cover college and university sports as assigned (Maryville College and University of Tennessee).
• Take photos and video as part of coverage and use social media for storytelling and idea generation.
• Work nights regularly and occasionally work weekends as required.

• Strong reporting and writing skills with the ability to produce timely, engaging sports coverage.
• Comfort with capturing photos and video and with using social media to enhance stories and discover ideas.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
• Submit at least three writing samples with resume and cover letter (email to appropriate contact).
