The Fayette County Health Department is welcoming applicants for the role of Dental Assistant. TDH proudly provides public health, primary care, and dental services to families across Fayette County and surrounding communities. The Dental Assistant plays a key role in delivering patient‑centered dental care in alignment with Provider Practice Guidelines for Dental Public Health and the Tennessee Dental Practice Act. We’re looking for individuals who are customer‑focused, self‑motivated, and committed to working as part of a supportive team that strengthens community health.
Key Responsibilities- Prepares dental supplies, instruments, and exam records to ensure each patient is welcomed into a ready, organized space. Assists the dentist using 4‑handed technique and maintains a clean, safe operatory by disinfecting and sterilizing after every patient visit.
- Maintains and monitors essential dental equipment and supplies, including the autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, and dental unit water lines. Follows procurement guidelines to track expiration dates and prepare supply orders.
- Supports daily productivity goals according to the Tennessee Department of Health Model Dental Clinic guidelines. Manages personal workflow and efficiency to help meet County Performance Plan goals for encounters and Relative Value Units. Collaborates with local leadership to support smooth clinic flow and respond to staffing needs.
Applicants must hold current registration as a dental assistant in the State of Tennessee, along with Dental Radiology Certification, Coronal Polishing Certification, Dental Sealant Application Certification, and Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certification. A valid driver’s license is also required for this classification.
